Alternative Voices is a discussion group that meets once a month.  The aim of the group is to get like-minded people together who are keen to discuss esoteric topics, share ideas, learn from one another, embrace experiences, make new friends and grow spiritually.

We have two main ‘leaders’ who between them run the meetings which alternate monthly between their two houses. The meeting lasts about two hours and includes notices, discussion and closing words. Obviously there is a certain amount of preparation needed for each meeting but by sharing the load and keeping the discussion flowing we all enjoy ourselves.

Spiritually minded people are invited to the meetings and they in turn know of others with similar views.  Networking takes place once word is out as there are so many people eager to join such a group!  New members are always made welcome and invited to say a few words about themselves.
This helps to make them feel at home.

Refreshments are served either half an hour before the start of the daytime meeting or at the end of the evening meeting.

We always make an effort to put candles around and play soft music to give a relaxed atmosphere.

Periodically guest speakers, who are teachers or therapists, are invited to share their experiences with us.  Their words are so full of energy and inspiration that we usually float home!

We like to plan days out and other social activities to make a change from the usual discussion group. For example, we have visits arranged to attend a sound therapy session and to spend time learning about herbs from a local herbalist. We like to keep an ongoing recommended reading list available for all members as well as a list of useful web sites and telephone numbers.

At the end of each meeting, at random, we pick the topic for discussion for the following meeting.  This then gives everyone a chance to do some research should they be unfamiliar with the topic.

We have an annual subscription which covers most of the expenses for guest speakers. At each meeting we ask for a small donation towards ‘sundries’ such as
refreshments, stationery and postage.

Alternative Voices has filled the void for a lot of spiritual people and continues to grow through its spiritual fellowship.
